Successful installation of a gantry plasma cutting cell

Another successful Gantry Plasma Cutting Cell by the Cyber-Weld team. After the cell was built, programmed and tested the cell has been built, re-wired and commissioned on the customer's site.
The cell consists of a Fanuc M710 robot inversely mounted onto a large steel column; this enables the robot to gain the most effective working area around the customer parts.
The column mounted robot is then mounted on a 6m long track slide, increasing the working envelope of the robotic plasma cutter.
Program control and selection is via the Fanuc teach pendant with the operational safety and main control of the robotic cell is handled through the cell HMI.
Parts are transferred in and out of the cell through the bi-folding doors, enable full safe access and yet also enclosing the working area completely whilst the robot is in motion.
The reliability, accuracy and repeatability of the Fanuc robot, combined with the process expertise of the Cyber-weld engineers and the efficient cutting process of the Thermacut plasma set has enabled Cyber-weld to demonstrate to our customer that Plasma cutting in this instance can provide a cost effective, smart solution. To ensure a consistent quality cut between variable parts Cyber-weld use a laser probe in conjunction with the arc voltage feedback
This photo shows the magnitude of the column, note the proximity of the factory gantry above, and demonstrates the capability of Cyber-weld to tackle the larger of the robotic automation projects.
If this cell has caught your interest or you want to know more about Cyber-weld and our capabilities please get in touch; we will always be happy to discuss your welding, cutting or handling opportunity.
Underneath you can view our Plasma Cutting Trials that are now being undertaken in the cell.
